Colorado districts have adopted student device policies. Now we’re working alongside families, educators, and communities to support implementation and advocate for effective bell-to-bell approaches that give students the full benefits of a phone-free school day.
Why phone-free schools matter
Our children deserve classrooms designed for learning, connection, and belonging—not distraction.
Phone-free schools give students more time to focus, engage with their teachers, build meaningful friendships, and fully participate in school. Research and real-world experience continue to show that reducing phone distractions can improve learning, strengthen school culture, and create more opportunities for authentic peer connection.
Colorado has made important progress. Many districts have adopted strong bell-to-bell policies that keep phones off and away throughout the school day, helping students stay engaged from the first bell to the last. As schools put these policies into practice, we’re supporting successful implementation while continuing to advocate for effective phone-free school days for every Colorado student.
Because every child deserves a school environment that supports focus, wellbeing, and real human connection.

Thanks to the leadership of educators, families, students, and community advocates across the state, Colorado school districts have adopted student device policies and many are moving forward with strong bell-to-bell approaches.
Now the focus turns to implementation. We are supporting schools as they bring these policies to life and continuing to advocate for effective phone-free school days that help every student learn, connect, and thrive.
