Kate Dando Doran

Director of Marketing and Communications

Kate is an experienced communications professional specializing in policy communications. She was raised in a family of educators and is the proud product of Colorado public schools and the University of Colorado, Boulder.

After college, Kate moved to Washington, DC where she spent 12 years working in a variety of communications roles. She served as Deputy Press Secretary and Press Secretary to U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell and went on to be a Strategic Communications Advisor at Holland & Knight LLP. After that, she spent 4 years as the Director of Communications for the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). 

In 2014, Kate returned home to Colorado and joined the Stand for Children team as the Marketing and Communications Director. She works to elevate the work of Stand and deploy strategic communications in concert with other strategies to achieve our policy and other goals. She is especially passionate about identifying ways to promote educational equity and early literacy.  

Kate and her husband live in Centennial with their two young children, and dog. On the weekends she’s likely to be found in her garden, covered in paint working on her latest DIY project, or enjoying time in the mountains with family.
