Phone free schools improve student outcomes
The benefits of prohibiting cell phones throughout the entire academic day have only become clearer. Better test scores, particularly among boys and older students. Students are reading more. Less cyberbullying and inappropriate cell phone use.
Why are these the best policies? The research (and there’s a lot of it) shows that they improve academic outcomes, ranging from math scores to students’ overall academic trajectory. The results are particularly strong for girls.
Teachers say their classrooms are night and day different, with students talking and engaging with one another and actually paying attention during class. School lunch periods are safer and more engaging. School safety officers say they make schools safer!
