Arizona Legislative District 9
Candidates Representing our shared values
Lorena Austin
As a current State Representative, Lorena Austin has prioritized the concerns and needs of community members. Austin is running for re-election to make sure our families can afford housing and send our children to great public schools. Teachers and staff are the backbone of our schools, and when re-elected Austin will continue fighting to support them and ensure they get the pay and resources they need to prepare our students and communities for future success.
Seth Blattman
As a business owner, Seth Blattman knows that if we want to grow our economy for everyone, we must invest in our local public schools, not cut resources from them. Blattman is running for re-election to the House of Representatives to implement common-sense solutions for our neighborhoods. This means supporting working families through investment in universal pre-k, supporting small businesses by providing opportunities for local entrepreneurs, and supporting first responders by ensuring they have the resources they need to keep our communities healthy and safe.
Eva Burch
As a nurse working in local emergency rooms, Eva Burch saw firsthand the critical issues facing families and communities in Arizona. For the last two years, she has been fighting for us in the State Senate. Burch is running for re-election to ensure that no Arizonan goes without care because they cannot afford it, and that no student suffers in under-resourced classrooms. She plans to expand access to affordable healthcare, bring prices down, and invest in our public schools and the future of our communities.

About our Process
We wanted make sure the school board candidates we endorsed shared our values as Arizona parents, grandparents, teachers, and community members. This means ensuring the candidates we support are willing to put the hard work to make our dreams for our kids a reality. And above all, we wanted to make sure anyone we supported would be committed to listening to parents and community members.
Our candidate endorsement process started with sending a survey to each of the school board candidates. We wanted to hear from the candidates in their own words about their plans for the children of Arizona. The survey was composed of questions from parents and community members. Then, the parents and community members on our endorsement committee came together to review those survey responses and choose the candidates we felt best represented the needs and values of Arizona schools and students.
