Stand for Children Arizona Executive Director Rebecca Gau released the following statement about Arizona’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget that passed out of the legislature yesterday.
“We applaud Governor Hobbs and legislative leadership for working to make Arizona more affordable for working families. Their inclusion of a child tax credit and continuing to fund child care subsidies are wins.
However, we are disappointed in what was not included in the budget,” said Stand for Children Arizona Executive Director Rebecca Gau. “No funding for 9th Grade On-Track. No funding for the Independent Corrections Oversight Office. And not enough funding to fully eliminate the childcare waitlist.
These are commonsense programs with a small overall expense that would pay huge dividends for Arizonans and our economy. We hope that when Arizona is in better financial shape, we make these important programs a priority again.”
