Mildred Otero
Mildred Otero is the President of LEE, an organization shaping the civic leadership journey of more than 65,000 leaders drawn from the alumni of high performing organizations.
Before joining LEE, Mildred served as chief education counsel for the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, where she managed the Senate majority’s education agenda and its policy development and strategy for children from cradle to career. Previously, Mildred served as a senior policy officer with the Gates Foundation; senior advisor to Sec. Clinton at the United States Department of State/United States Agency for International Development; Deputy Director for Early Childhood at the Children’s Defense Fund; and senior policy advisor to then Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) and Senator Jack Reed (D-RI).
Mildred is a fellow of the 17th class of the Pahara – Aspen Education Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Albany and a Master of Social Work degree from the New York University Silver School of Social Work. She lives in Miami, FL with her family.
