Teacher Appreciation Month
Teachers do the critical work of caring for our children and preparing the next generation to be thoughtful and informed community members. This Teacher Appreciation Month, let’s take the time to say thank you to those educators who’ve made a lasting impact on our lives.

Mrs. Reed: Thanks for going through the torture of being totally right-handed teaching cursive writing to a totally left-handed kid. Julia & Calvin Whatley: thanks for helping build a love of language that has now spread another 2 generations. I’m working on my second edition of he pocket poetry textbook. Also, thanks for a friendship that has lasted over 55 years. There’s good reason that all my on-stage improv and fannish/ steampunk peronae share your last name.

I’m a retired teacher. Teachers are less respected now than they were in the past. Administrators are less supportive than ever. There is no profession paid as poorly and with the lack of support. GIVE THEM A BREAK AND SOME SUPPORT.

Thank-you for doing one of the hardest and most important jobs of educating our children. I know you have to be doing it for the love of teaching because it’s definitely not for the money, you deserve so much more! I appreciated the time, effort and MONEY you pour into your profession.
