High School Success
starting with Ninth Grade
Students who pass all their classes at the end of their 9th-grade year are as much as four times more likely to graduate from high school than their off-track peers. Stand for Children’s Center for High School Success partners with high schools committed to becoming communities where all students excel academically and race and socio-economic status do not predict success.
Ninth Grade Success
The 9th Grade Success Initiative helps students pass all their 9th-grade classes, tripling their chances of graduating.

By offering collaborative support and access to rigorous coursework, it serves 19,000 students in 68 Washington schools, improving graduation and post-secondary opportunities statewide.
DUAL CREDIT EQUITY

ACADEMIC ACCELERATION
Research shows that automatically enrolling qualified students in the next most rigorous course increases enrollment in advanced courses and increases equal opportunity for all. In fact, Washington state law requires school districts to adopt an academic acceleration policy, thanks to advocacy from Stand WA and our partners.

Stand for Children Washington has synthesized research, district experience, and statewide convening data to identify the most impactful drivers of success, and to chart a path to successful implementation of an academic acceleration policy.
Districts in any phase of their journey to implement an academic acceleration policy can follow this path of best practices to set their schools up for equitable and sustained success.
