Andrea Salinas for Congressional District 6

The Stand for Children Salem chapter is excited to announce our endorsement for Representative Andrea Salinas for Congressional District 6.

Congressional District 6, a new district in Oregon, encompases Polk and Yamhill County in addition to parts of Marion, Clackamas, and Washington County.

Our endorsement committee, made up of parents, students, and long time stand members, felt Representative Andrea Salinas (HD 38) was best fitted to represent our district. Andrea Salinas has been a champion for education equity in Oregon by working with Stand to pass the Student Success Act. Representative Andrea Salinas has also been an advocate for BIPOC communities in Oregon, most recently helping pass the Farmworker overtime bill. Throughout her years in the Oregon legislature, she has clearly demonstrated a passion to help students and families and an ability to get things done for all Oregonians.

Grecia Gomez, a fellow with Stand and a student at Chemeketa Community College, shared “I believe Andrea Salinas is the person that truly represents every community member throughout our district. She is aware and acknowledges the injustice that minorities go through and is determined to change that for each individual as she has done in the past in the Oregon legislature.”

Mayra Romero, a parent leader in Salem, shared, “Para mi Andrea Salinas es una gran líder que nos puede representar haciendo un excelente trabajo con toda su experiencia y gran habilidad para poder solucionar los problemas.” “For me, Andrea Salinas is a great leader who can represent us by doing an excellent job with all her experience and great ability to solve problems.”

We are beyond thrilled to endorse Andrea Salinas and look forward to partnering with her to support kids in Oregon through the national legislature.

We hope you all can join us in supporting Representative Andrea Salinas by turning in your ballot on May 17 for the primary election. And again on November 8th for the general election.
