This is a fast-paced period focused primarily on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Passing a supplemental budget<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advancing or refining policy proposals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responding to urgent needs facing our state<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Decisions move quickly, which makes informed advocacy and timely engagement especially important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"575\" src=\"https:\/\/stand.org\/washington\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/09\/IMG_1521-1-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stand.org\/washington\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/09\/IMG_1521-1-1-1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/stand.org\/washington\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/09\/IMG_1521-1-1-1-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stand.org\/washington\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/09\/IMG_1521-1-1-1-768x552.jpg 768w, https:\/\/stand.org\/washington\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2025\/09\/IMG_1521-1-1-1-60x43.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-our-2026-legislative-priorities\"><strong>Our 2026 legislative priorities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During the session, we\u2019ll be advocating for policies that reflect our values and evidence-based solutions, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Protecting the Ninth Grade Success Initiative<\/strong>, which boosts the number of students statewide who stay on track to graduate <em>($1.5 million for FY 2027)<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Creating a more individualized approach to youth justice<\/strong>, helping young people stay accountable in their communities when safe and appropriate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Allowing individuals serving very long prison sentences<\/strong>, who have demonstrated rehabilitation, to request a meaningful second look at their sentence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ensuring distraction-free schools<\/strong> that prioritize student learning and student wellbeing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-stay-informed\"><strong>Stay informed<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ll be sharing <strong>weekly updates throughout the session<\/strong> with plain-language explanations of what\u2019s happening in Olympia, what it means for education and justice reform, and how you can take action when it matters most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever wondered <em>how<\/em> a bill becomes law, <em>why<\/em> certain issues move faster than others, or <em>where<\/em> your voice fits in\u2014we\u2019ve got you covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-get-involved-join-us-for-advocacy-days\"><strong>Get involved: Join us for Advocacy Days<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most powerful ways to support this work is to show up. Join us and our partners in Olympia for an Advocacy Day focused on issues that matter to you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>January 15<\/strong> \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/phone-free-schools-washington-day-of-action-jan-15-tickets-1979119741423\">Cell Phone\u2013Free Schools Day of Action<\/a> (organized by Distraction Free Schools WA)\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/act.stand.org\/a\/9th-grade-success-advocacy-day-1\"><strong>February 4<\/strong> \u2013 Ninth Grade Success Olympia Day<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobilize.us\/dream\/event\/867767\/\"><strong>February 11<\/strong> \u2013 Day of Empathy<\/a> (organized by dream.org)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>No prior experience needed\u2014just a willingness to learn and speak up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for being part of this community and for standing with us during the 2026 Legislative Session.
