

{"id":1057,"date":"2024-02-23T21:27:47","date_gmt":"2024-02-23T21:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stand.org\/washington\/?p=1057"},"modified":"2026-04-03T18:43:50","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T18:43:50","slug":"legislative-roll-call-week-7-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stand.org\/washington\/our-stories\/legislative-roll-call-week-7-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Legislative Roll Call: Week 7"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This week marked the release of House and Senate budget proposals, and yet another bill cutoff &#8211; all bills that are not considered \u201cnecessary to implement the budget\u201d needed to be voted out of a policy committee by Wednesday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-budgets-released\"><strong>Budgets Released<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As usual, there are differences between the House and Senate proposals that will need to be ironed out \u201cin conference.\u201d Over the next two weeks, a small team of negotiators for each chamber will work on a negotiated final budget that reconciles the differences between the two. Our partners at League of Education Voters have put together a very comprehensive <a href=\"https:\/\/educationvoters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/LEV-2024-Supplemental-Budget-Side-by-Side-Governor-House-Senate.pdf\">side-by-side comparison of the education budgets<\/a>.&nbsp;We\u2019ve pulled out a few highlights below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are thrilled to report that the Senate budget fully funds the Ninth Grade Success Initiative at $3 million.
