Let\u2019s be honest\u2014cell phones are everywhere. And while they help us stay connected, they can also be a major distraction, especially in schools.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Right now, Indiana law says phones should be put away during class time. But in many schools, students can still use them during lunch and passing periods. That means a lot of screen time\u2014and not always the kind that helps kids learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why there\u2019s growing momentum around a stronger policy: \u201cAway for the Day.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s simple: phones off and put away from the first bell to the last, except in emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, most Indiana residents taking our survey <\/a>say they support this idea. But we know every story is different\u2014and we want to hear yours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re collecting short videos from:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Parents who\u2019ve seen how phones affect their kids<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Students who\u2019ve experienced the ups and downs of phone use at school<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Teachers who\u2019ve had to manage distractions in the classroom<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Anyone with a perspective on how phones impact learning, safety, or school culture<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Whether you\u2019re all in on \u201cAway for the Day,\u201d prefer the current policy, or are still figuring it out\u2014your voice matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
