{"id":769,"date":"2022-06-24T20:01:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-24T20:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stand.org\/colorado\/?p=769"},"modified":"2022-07-13T20:05:36","modified_gmt":"2022-07-13T20:05:36","slug":"standing-with-you-june-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stand.org\/colorado\/our-stories\/standing-with-you-june-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Standing With You: June 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-your-voice-at-the-capitol\">Your Voice at the Capitol&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This legislative session, we prioritized bills to ensure principals and administrators are trained in the science of reading, remove barriers to expanding and diversifying our educator workforce,&nbsp;fund Colorado schools equitably, and update policies for safer and more supportive schools and communities.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But we could not do this without you \u2013 the parents, educators, and community members who showed your support and took action to ensure these critical bills passed.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This legislative session parents, educators, and community members sent more than 5,500 emails to lawmakers and delivered 16 testimonies at the Capitol.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-it-matters\">Why It Matters&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We deeply believe that&nbsp;<strong>policy making is most effective when the voices of those impacted are at the center of decision making.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a House Education Committee hearing, a representative said he would be changing his vote to support our bill after hearing testimony from Megan Bobroske, an educator who joined us to testify in support of SB22-004 Evidence-based Training in Science of Reading.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This<\/em>&nbsp;is why it matters.
