{"id":2583,"date":"2024-02-23T23:17:28","date_gmt":"2024-02-23T23:17:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stand.org\/colorado\/?p=2583"},"modified":"2026-07-30T21:40:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T21:40:07","slug":"9th-grade-success-in-the-san-luis-valley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stand.org\/colorado\/our-stories\/9th-grade-success-in-the-san-luis-valley\/","title":{"rendered":"9th Grade Success in the San Luis Valley"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In 2019, school leaders in Center, Colorado were alarmed as their high school graduation rates dropped to the lowest in the state. <strong><u>Now, they&#8217;re among the highest.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our team at the <a href=\"https:\/\/stand.org\/colorado\/the-colorado-center-for-high-school-success\/?emci=4240640a-a0d1-ee11-85f9-002248223794&amp;emdi=ea000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001&amp;ceid=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Colorado Center for High School Success <\/a>partnered with educators at Center High School to implement a ninth grade on-track approach that is changing the trajectory for their students and community.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/914529309?emci=4240640a-a0d1-ee11-85f9-002248223794&amp;emdi=ea000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001&amp;ceid=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">We are honored to share this Colorado success story in a video.&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video alignwide\"><video height=\"582\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1366 \/ 582;\" width=\"1366\" controls poster=\"https:\/\/stand.org\/colorado\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/02\/center-video-snip.png\" src=\"https:\/\/stand.org\/colorado\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/02\/standing_with_center___9th_grade_success_in_the_san_luis_valley-720p.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Decades of research shows that supporting students by implementing a 9th grade success approach improves graduation rates. The work in Center was supported by a 9th Grade Success Grant from the Colorado Department of Education.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, we are working to ensure that more students in Colorado can access this support through 9th grade on-track programming. <a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/hb24-1282?emci=4240640a-a0d1-ee11-85f9-002248223794&amp;emdi=ea000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001&amp;ceid=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB24-1282 <\/a>expands funding for the 9th Grade Success Grant Program, which will allow more Colorado schools to implement the approach that is helping students across our state succeed in high school and graduate on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 2019, school leaders in Center, Colorado were alarmed as their high school graduation rates dropped to the lowest in the state.
