This session we are proud to be championing and supporting key bills to support Colorado\u2019s students, educators, and families. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This session, we are prioritizing policies to (specific bill details below as they are introduced):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Expand funding <\/strong>for the <strong>Ninth Grade On-Track<\/strong> and <strong>Expelled and At-Risk Student Services (EARSS) <\/strong>grant programs.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Remove barriers<\/strong> to <strong>support teaching candidates<\/strong>, expanding and diversifying the educator workforce.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ensure equitable<\/strong> school funding.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eliminate<\/strong> the, currently allowable, <strong>practice of lying to juveniles <\/strong>during interrogation.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Update probation and parole supervision <\/strong>to include remote check-in options and early release for education credits earned.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cap the cost of phone calls <\/strong>from prison or jail.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:24px\"><strong>Remove barriers<\/strong> to <strong>support teaching candidates<\/strong>, expanding and diversifying the educator workforce.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/hb23-1001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB23-1001<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Expanding Assistance For Educator Programs<\/strong>, a continuation of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/HB22-1220\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB22-1220<\/a>, expands eligibility for financial assistance and offers loan forgiveness to a larger pool of educators who qualify for state programs.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/hb23-1064\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB23-1064<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact\u00a0<\/strong>creates a compact to make it easier for active-duty military spouses to transfer their teaching licenses without further testing, thereby allowing them to teach in Colorado classrooms faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/sb23-087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SB23-087<\/a>\u00a0<strong>Teacher Degree Apprenticeship Program<\/strong>\u00a0creates a teacher degree apprenticeship program as an alternative route to teacher licensure which helps to alleviate the educator shortage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:24px\"><strong>Eliminate<\/strong> the, currently allowable, <strong>practice of lying to juveniles <\/strong>during interrogation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/bills\/hb23-1042\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB23-1042<\/a>, <strong>Admissibility Standards For Juvenile Statements<\/strong> increases funding for interrogation training for law enforcement, as well as improves the general reliability of confessions by requiring all juvenile interrogations to be recorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At Stand for Children Colorado we advocate for policy solutions in the areas of early literacy, high school success,\u00a0and safe and supportive schools and communities.
