Among the topics discussed was the importance of investments in affordable childcare and the need for an earned income tax credit.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The roundtable came at a time when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc15.com\/news\/local-news\/thousands-of-arizona-families-awaiting-subsidies-to-help-pay-for-child-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the average cost of childcare for a single kid has risen to nearly $11,000 per year<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/azchildren.org\/news-and-events\/well-thats-scary-child-care-crisis-in-arizona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nearly one-third of young children are eligible for child care subsidies.<\/a> Numbers suggest than <a href=\"https:\/\/azmirror.com\/briefs\/thousands-of-arizona-children-now-waitlisted-for-state-child-care-assistance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more than 2,000 children are currently on a waitlist for childcare subsidies<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs I talk to families in my district, the need for greater access to affordable childcare is evident,\u201d <strong>said Representative Alma Hernandez. <\/strong>\u201cChildcare is a vital necessity for these young families.
