Thank You For Voting to Put Education First

Come election time, you will have the chance to cast a vote for Washington’s children.

A status quo education might be working for some families, but we believe that all our children -- regardless of background, income or zip code -- deserve a world-class education.

If Washington keeps doing the same old thing it has been doing, offering a status quo education, we can expect more of the same. It's time to make a change. Our children deserve better, our future demands it.

Right now, in Washington:

  • Nearly 1 in 4 students doesn't graduate on time, and our graduation rate has been stuck in the same place for decades. That means at least one of the kids in the picture will drop out of school.
  • Only half of our 8th graders can do math at grade level -- and it's been that way since 2006.
  • Nearly half the students entering community college need remedial classes.
  • Achievement gaps between racial and income groups have been stuck in the same place since the mid-1990's.

Why is voting for education champions so important?

  • By 2020, nearly three-quarters of all jobs in Washington will require education or training beyond high school.
  • Washington leads the nation in concentration of STEM jobs (science, tech, engineering, math) and in the creation of software companies -- but employers have to look elsewhere for qualified employees.

Our children deserve better.

  • Better schools are not a partisan issue. It's time to look past party labels so that we can work together, across party lines, to get the best results for our kids.

This November 6, take a stand for a better schools and vote for education champions.
