Gary Alexander 2nd LD
"It has always been one of my top goals to develop a sound and sustainable funding plan for public education. I have advocated for funding education first and I have been a strong advocate for reforms, including performance evaluations and flexibility. I will be on the task force to prepare and plan to meet the McCleary decision and to ensure we build in the proper accountability."
Gary is a native Washingtonian and has lives in Thurston County for 40 years. He lives in the rural suburbs of Lacey with his wife Donna and their two dogs, Sophie (a Maltese) and Molly (a Yorkshire Terrier). He enjoys golfing, fishing and traveling.
Gary currently is serving his twelfth year as Deputy Auditor for Finance for Thurston County. Prior employment includes 25 years as a budget and program manager with Washington State government and 10 years as an industrial engineer and chief financial officer in private industry.
He was first elected in 1996. He is very involved in the community and serves on several local Boards, including the Board of the Thurston County Boys and Girls Club.
