Joel Kretz 7th LD
Voted for teacher and principal performance evaluations, and against tutition hikes in the 2012 legislative session. Advocates strongly for school levy equalization to protect funding for small and rural school districts.
Joel is a horse and cattle rancher, and a life-long Washingtonian who currently lives in Wauconda. He lives on the family ranch with his wife, Sara, and their son, Jed.
He is a graduate of Mercer Island High School, and attended Green River Community College and Olympic Community College.
Joel previously served as a Republican Precinct Committee Officer; a Member of the Water Resource Inventory Analysis Committee 60 (WRIA 60); a Member of the Okanogan County Wildlife Services Committee; a Member of the United States Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Services Committee and on Farm Bureau Committees.
Joel was one of only two legislators to receive the National Federation of Independent Businesses' "Outstanding Legislator" award for 2009 & 2010. He was also honored with the 2007 & 2009 "Legislator of the Year" award from Washington State Farm Bureau for his work on Critical Areas Ordinance legislation and his tireless work to preserve private property rights. Joel was recognized as the "2006 Legislator of the Year" by the Cattle Producers of Washington for his legislative and local work to promote the heritage of ranching and farming in Washington.
