Virginia is a native Texan whose passion for social and economic justice coalesced while volunteering for youth-serving organizations in the U.S. and abroad. She began her career in fundraising: first as an AmeriCorps*VISTA at a mentoring program for youth involved with the child welfare system, and later for the early education organization Jumpstart. During graduate school, she learned how to turn her love for wonky details into policy and programmatic work, conducting research on early childhood education, post-secondary policy, and education philanthropy. Most recently, she worked at New Leaders, where she managed data collection tools to improve programs. She is excited to continue working for educational equity as Stand’s Washington Policy and Government Affairs Manager.
Virginia graduated from Colby College and has a Master’s degree in public affairs from the University of Texas at Austin. She lives in Seattle with her husband, Michael, daughter, Grace, and their dog, Huck. In her free time, she enjoys reading, sharing meals with family and friends, and exploring new places.
