Megan Pirie was born and raised in Spokane Washington. She has lived experience of incarceration and involvement in the criminal legal system reaching back to 1993. Megan overcame systemic barriers and became a licensed foster parent in 2012 and has adopted four children involved in the foster care system. She is a co-founder and director of the Eastern WA chapter of ALL of US or None. She graduated from Spokane Falls with an AAS degree in Addiction studies. She holds a license with the Washington State Department of Health as an SUDPT. Her previous employment includes Substance Use Disorder Counselor and Community Engagement Specialist at Pioneer Human Services, Recovery Support Navigator with The Bail Project assisting participants with re-entry and Recovery Navigator with the Hub and Spoke program navigating community members with opiate use disorder. Megan has participated in local Parent Teacher Association as a vice president, acted as a volunteer coach through the YMCA for at risk youth, built an outreach program to visit our local work release centers, and completed 2020 Parent Ambassadors training. Megan recently cofounded Peer Reentry Navigation Community Bail Fund in Spokane. She currently co-chairs Spokane Public School’s Citizens’ Advisory Committee. She volunteers with nonprofit organizations to feed our community, participates in lobbying and speaking for fair chance hiring to ban the box for previously incarcerated individuals to gain employment and housing, and organizes voter engagement drives. Megan is passionate about strengthening families, assisting previously incarcerated individuals with re-entry and ending mass incarceration.
