Anna Kovacevic came to the United States from Germany where she grew up after leaving Bosnia during the civil war of the 1990s. Her experience as a refugee shaped her world view and ignited her passion for social justice. Anna is passionate about empowering young people to advocate for improved education and engaging the community to reform systems that perpetuate and contribute to educational inequality.
After earning her BSW from the University of Washington and her MSW from Columbia University, Anna served as the Operations & Programs Manager at the Katal Center for Health, Equity, and Justice in New York City, where she supported work to end mass incarceration and build leadership and organizing capacity amongst formerly incarcerated people.
Anna is thrilled to bring her background in social work and non-profit management to join Stand as the Washington State Operations Coordinator.
