The National Summer Learning Association reports that children can lose 2-3 months of educational progress over the summer, and children from low-income families are more likely to fall behind than their peers.
By creating a family culture that elevates reading all summer long, children who read are more likely to retain their knowledge and enter school in the fall ready to learn more.
In Tacoma, Stand for Children is hosting a Summer Reading Club to provide free and fun reading events, field trips, and activities for the whole family.
Here is the 2018 schedule for the Tacoma Summer Reading Club:
Friday, June 15 – 4:00 PM
Summer Kick-off Party – Tacoma Moore Library
Wednesday, June 27 – 12:00 PM

Wednesday, July 11– 12:30 PM
