I’m thrilled to share that our plan to boost Washington graduation rates received a resounding endorsement from The Seattle Times editorial board in today’s paper:
“The Legislature should follow the lead of Stand for Children and put more money and energy into helping more students graduate.”
The Seattle Times, December 12, 2018
I am incredibly proud of our team for the recognition of the quality of their work and energized for what’s to come in January. You can read the article in its entirety on their website here.
The entire Stand for Children team in Washington is hard at work with a laser focus on ensuring that our High School Success plan moves swiftly through the 2019 legislature.
Our comprehensive plan has been developed with the input of educators, community organizations, parents, district and state officials, and education policy experts. We are recommending that lawmakers:
- Implement Freshman Success Strategies in every district
- Create equity in advanced classrooms
- Ensure middle and high school students have access to sufficient counseling
Read more about our plan here, and then add your name to our list of supporters ready to take action and ensure that the legislature acts to improve graduation rates in 2019. 1 in 5 Washington students isn't graduating, and we believe that every student deserves a high quality education that meaningfully prepares them for life after high school.
Add your name to our email list and we'll keep you in the loop as opportunities for action come up as session begins in January.
Thank you again for your commitment to kids – every kid – and a stronger education system for Washington’s students.
