Deb Jaquith Marketing and Communications Director

Deborah serves as the marketing communications director for Stand for Children Washington.

Stand for Children is pleased to announce Libuse Binder will join Stand for Children Washington as our next Executive Director on January 3, 2017.

Libuse has spent the better part of her career engaged in the teaching and education of others; from her early work as a humanities teacher in New York to her more recent efforts to deliver better public school options for Washington students.

Early in her career, Libuse wrote the book (literally) on civic participation, Ten Ways to Change the World in Your Twenties, creating an organization and touring college campuses to instruct students on how to make positive change through civic engagement. The organization, started in 2006, still offers resources to students today.

Since then, her career has been focused on a different type of learning, the education of our state’s children.

As Libuse says, “Washington State has been too slow to make the changes that truly close the opportunity and achievement gaps in K-12 education. A driving force throughout my career has been finding ways to close these gaps.”

While working as a research analyst at the Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE), Libuse advised over 40 school districts on maximizing systemic redesign by empowering teachers and other school leaders.

In her most recent work as the Chief Civic Affairs Officer for Washington State Charter Schools Association, she was one of the visionary architects for the Act Now for Washington Students campaign during the 2016 state legislature; bringing over 400 charter school students and their families to the legislature, not once but twice, to tell elected officials how important the new schools were to their lives, as well as playing a key role in the campaign that focused on ensuring more high quality school options for Washington’s students.

Stand for Children’s Chief of State Operations, Shannon Campion, will assist in Libuse’s transition to her new role at Stand for Children Washington.
