Watching the pain and struggle that those cities - and our country - are going through right now makes me sad, angry, desperate for hope. We rise up together to fight injustice, to value all of our citizens, and to make this world a better, more kind, more hopeful place.
At Stand, we fight every day for access to a strong education for children, the foundational key to a healthy and productive life. But there are children right now who are afraid to walk down the street due to violence and worry if their dad is going to come home after a routine traffic stop. There are children who don’t know where their next meal is going to come from, or what roof they will sleep under. There are children who have suffered more unspeakable trauma by the age of 5 then most of us will see in our lifetime.
We are better than this and we are stronger than this.
Education is the long-term foundation to a just society. It is the foundation to breaking down walls and barriers and creating the space to understand and value differences. We have families hurting today, our country is hurting today. Let’s use this moment to peacefully protest and to double down on the great vision that is a free and just America and to make this world a better place.
