9th Grade on Track

This workshop discusses the following; differences from middle academically and socially, why the freshman year is so important, what are the requirements for graduation, the ABC’s, how to support academic success, how to best support students during developmental milestones and their growth socially and emotionally. 

Special Education Basics

This is a great workshop for those that want to understand more about Special Education basics. Maybe you are a new parent to Special Education or you want a deeper dive to understand some of the rules and regulations. We’ll discuss your basic rights as the family of a special education student and answer any questions you have. This is a great space to ask questions and understand the process of how to advocate for your child.

Homeschool Survival Kit

This workshop helps parents have tools to keep their student on-track while at home. It will help you understand what you can do to help support them right now and theirsocial/emotional needs. There will also be time for parents to communicate their experiences and get feedback from other parents.

College Debt Management

In this workshop we cover the current costs of tuition (in and out-of-state) and discuss differences between grants, scholarships, types of student loans and rates, give tools to find scholarships for in and out-of-state, students work on budgeting, look at repayment of student loans, and discuss some very important tips about choosing a college and avoid heavy student debt.

High School & Beyond Plan + Graduation Requirements

This workshop helps parents understand what the High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) is and how to ensure your child is working on it or has completed it. We will also discuss how the graduation requirements have been impacted due to the COVID-19 situation. This workshop includes comments from Kim Reykdal, the OSPI Program Lead for Secondary School Counseling.

Transition from Middle to High School

This workshop discusses the following; differences from middle academically and socially, why the freshman year is so important, what are the requirements for graduation, the ABC’s, how to support academic success, how to best support students during developmental milestones and their growth socially and emotionally.

Transition to High School with 504/IEP

This workshop discusses the differences between middle and high school (academically and socially), why ninth grade is so important, how to support academic success, how to best support students during developmental milestones and social and emotional growth. Additionally, we also specifically discuss 504s and IEPs, supports for parents, and basic laws and discipline requirements for Special Education students.
