As a Teach For America alumni, this mission aligns with my purpose for being an educator, as I was trained under the ideal that one day, all children will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education. I exemplify this mantra, which aligns with my personal goals for my students, daily both in and out of the classroom. When I began at Ann Richards, two years ago, it was a brand new school just opening. I knew from the beginning that school culture was imperative to get our students invested in Ranger pride. In my two years, I have worked hard to make that pride a reality, by beginning organizations such as the cheerleading team and the school’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. More importantly, I pride myself in the central role that mission plays in my classroom and the culture that lives within my four walls. In my classroom, there are no excuses, there are no boundaries, we push ourselves to our limits despite what barriers and obstacles may be in front of us.
