Why I Stand for Children- I am so happy to have the endorsement of Stand For Children endorsement because it aligns so much with my belief that public education is the social justice issue of our time. I truly believe that advocating and providing for quality education for all children is an essential component of a healthy and thriving community.
Why Stand for Children Endorses Shante Avant- Shante Avant volunteered for public service to fill the open seat of Stand-supported School Board member Reginald Porter when he joined the administration of the school system. After receiving the appointment to the school board, Shante quickly got up to speed and became an active and vocal Board member. As a parent she knows the challenges that face many parents in finding the best educational option for their children. In addition, she works every day for the Women’s Foundation to improve the future prospects of all women and children in our community. Shante has shown her commitment to improving education in our community and has demonstrated that she aligns well with What We Stand For. We enthusiastically endorse Shante to continue her representation on the School Board in District 6.
