District 1- Chris Caldwell
Stand for Children Tennessee endorses Chris Caldwell for Shelby County School Board District 1
Bio- Chris Caldwell is a Financial Consultant and Vice President at Raymond James. After being appointed to the Shelby County School Board in 2011, he was elected in August 2012 to serve District One for a two-year term. He's served in various parent and school organizations and also has been active in recruiting the Midtown Memphis parents who traditionally choose not to send their children to public schools. Chris Caldwell is a native Memphian and MCS product. Married for thirty-two years to Cheryl Robison Caldwell, they have three children in Shelby County Schools from middle to high school. Chris is dedicated to being a voice for parents, teachers, principals, and other school administrators who are most responsible for the quality of education and what happens in the classroom.
Why I Stand for Children- I am honored and grateful for the support and confidence shown by this endorsement. Stand for Children has worked very hard to promote and improve public education for all citizens of Shelby County. I look forward to a successful campaign and to working with Stand to continue to promote better educational opportunities and academic outcomes for every student; it is vital to the quality of life in our community.
Why Stand for Children Endorses Chris Caldwell- Chris Caldwell is a prototype for the advocacy roles Stand tries to support with parents. Having been a long-time Stand for Children member and parent advocate, Chris stepped up in 2011 to become a School Board member in the middle of the challenge of merging two school districts. In the 2012 School Board elections, Stand wholeheartedly endorsed Chris. He has served well and advocated for transparency and accountability at every level of the school system. His business and finance expertise brings a focused insight to the board to ensure our dollars are well spent. Chris will continue to encourage the school system to set specific goals and build plans and budget focused on priorities to provide great education to all the children of Shelby County Schools. Once again, we are glad to be able to endorse Chris Caldwell for School Board.
"When Chris Caldwell spoke to us about the budget I was impressed by his solution-oriented approach. Instead of worrying about the image of the district, he was passionate about addressing the problems by setting goals that are outcome-based and measurable. His dialogue throughout the interview made me confident that he is a public servant, committed to the best interest of children in Memphis." - Ellen Clayton, Member
