Stand University for Parents Program Overview
Stand University for Parents (Stand UP) focuses on education and empowerment to equip low-income parents with the knowledge and skills they need to support their children’s education. Parents learn actionable steps that they can take immediately to get involved in their children’s academics and to ensure their children are on track to attend and graduate from college.
The curriculum is designed within “Blended Learning Model” that includes classroom instruction, homework and resource material to support sustainable knowledge transfer.
Classes employ a multi-faceted implementation strategy that requires enhanced student participation. This allows parents to engage in behaviors such as: analytical thought, self-reflection and directed action that supports adult theory of learning.
We offer Associate’s (3-week) and Bachelor’s (8-week) programs that focus on educating, empowering and equipping parents with the knowledge and skills they need to support their children’s education.
This program is an 8-week course, consisting of an intro meeting, six academic classes, and a graduation.
This program is a 4-week course, consisting of three classes and a certificate of completion at the end.
