Dan joined Stand for Children’s Oregon team after a decade of living and working on the East Coast. The California native refined his communications skills in Washington, D.C., where he worked as a communications director on Capitol Hill for nearly six years. During that time, Dan managed media and constituent outreach for two prominent members of Congress, and served as the press contact for the caucuses they chair. His work placed him at the epicenter of national debates on education, immigration, healthcare and much more.
Dan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from San Diego State University, and a Master’s Degree in Applied Politics from American University. While at AU, he led weekly lectures for an undergraduate course on the U.S. Congress and legislative behavior, and marked his first milestone as a communicator by delivering the student commencement address at his graduation.
When he’s not working, you can find Dan hiking and exploring the great outdoors with his wife Nicole, or playing guitar for his favorite captive audience: the couple’s two cats, Ramses and Leia.
