Stand for Children is committed to equity and justice for children and families – and to empowering parents, students, and community to advocate for that justice.

We want to support you with the tools and information to speak up and make a change, and the best opportunity to advocate and speak with decision makers is our annual Lobby Day at the State Legislature.

At Lobby Day, you'll be able to (virtually) sit down and speak directly with the state representative and the state senator who represents YOU in Salem.

They make many decisions that will greatly impact all Oregon students including:

  • How will Oregon ensure a good eduation for all children?
  • Our committment to equity and racial justice
  • How we work to improve high school graduation rates and ensure we're putting graduating students on a real path to success

These are the types of policy and budget decisions made in meeting rooms in Salem. And legislators need to hear from you directly on how thse issues impact your lives.

When you speak with legislators, you have a tremendous influence.

By talking to legislators, Stand members have helped make huge changes including:

  • bringing modern Career and Technical Education programs to all of our high schools;
  • raising hundreds of millions more dollars for schools – AND requiring that it is spent transparently, and where it is most needed
  • working to ensure our students have equitable access to a high-quality education

Come speak to your legislators, share your real experiences, and help pass laws that matter. This is the best way, often the only way, for you to impact state education.

MONDAY, FEB 21 beginning at 9am

This is Presidents’ Day, and often a no school day – bring your kids! This year, all meetings will be remote. We’ll start the day with information, giving you all the tools you need to be a strong grassroots advocate. We’ll answer all your questions and in the afternoon, we’ll have meetings on Zoom with your legislators.
