Meet our new executive director, Toya Fick

Stand for Children Oregon is stronger than ever, and we are taking steps to continue to increase our effectiveness. That's why I'm excited to introduce our new Executive Director -- Toya Fick.

For the past two years, as the government affairs director at Stand Oregon, Toya has established herself as a leader with our members and partners. Her professional experience is deeply relevant to our work. She taught middle school science at KIPP, DC and was a policy advisor to Senator Hillary Clinton. In 2013, she further proved herself by leading us through one of our most successful legislative sessions. I cannot wait to see what she does as executive director.

“As the executive director, I’m thrilled I’ll get the chance to collaborate with even more of our many members and partners across Oregon.  I’m completely committed and driven by our work. There is nowhere else I would rather be than in a room full of community members who share my vision for an education system that provides all kids with a chance to succeed in life. I know I have some big shoes to fill. I’m excited to get to work.”  -Toya Fick, executive director.

I will remain actively involved in Stand's critical work by taking on the role of chair of Stand's Oregon Advisory Board. Jack Friedman, the current board chair and Providence Healthcare CEO, will remain on the board.

Together, Toya and I will continue to advocate for strategic investments in Oregon schools, and improved outcomes for all kids. We look forward to working with our members in partnership.

What an inspired ED selection you've made! Having worked with Toya for the past two years on the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission it is apparent to me that she is just the right person for this leadership position at Stand for Children. Congratulations!
