Stand for Children Advocacy Director Dana Hepper and Chalkboard Project President Sue Hildick co-wrote a letter to our next schools’ chief, encouraging that person to take seriously the task of supporting and intervening in schools that consistently struggle to meet the needs of our children.

Our Oregon Legislature is currently considering Senate Bill 1581 -- one of Governor John Kitzhaber's top priorities -- and that bill would create the Chief Education Officer position. That person would be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all of the state's education insitutions. Learn more about this legislation.
