Why We Stand
In Oklahoma, only 7 out of 10 students who enter high school graduate on time, and the state consistently performs below the national average in reading and math. Of the Oklahoma high school graduates who go on to college, nearly 40 percent require remedial coursework they should have learned for free before graduating high school. These challenges are made worse with Oklahoma teachers being among the lowest paid in the nation and the state in the grips of a major teacher shortage.
We must demand excellent schools for all Oklahoma children, and this requires championing policies that are proven to lead to student achievement and ensure the best and brightest are leading our classrooms and schools.
