John Paul Jordan - Republican for House District 43
A former educator and practicing attorney, John Paul Jordan is a life-long resident of Canadian County. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Education with a minor in history from University of Central Oklahoma and taught eighth grade history at Roosevelt Middle School in the Oklahoma City Public School district. He cites his mother’s 29 year teaching career as the inspiration for his passion for education.
John Paul believes that Oklahoma needs to get back to where education prepares students for life outside of the classroom. His past classroom experience has led him to believe each school district should be free to use the resources available to them for their own school system.
He will work to ensure that Oklahoma teachers are paid a livable wage and wants to stop wasteful spending, so funds are used for teacher pay raises or resources to address teacher and school staff turnover.
In his own words…
What are you top budget priorities for public schools in Oklahoma? “Classroom Resources - We need to free up resources, each school district should be free to use the resources available to them for their own school system. Teacher Pay - We need to work to ensure that our teachers are paid a livable wage. Turnover and Training - We waste money that can be better used for either pay raises or resources because of turnover and the need to continually train new teachers and employees.”
