Sara grew up in Columbia, Maryland, a town with excellent public schools and known for its diversity of race and class. However, as a paraprofessional in special education toddler classes – and later as a one-on-one tutor at an urban high school in Boston – she saw firsthand the inequities in public schools and how failure to support young learners has a profound impact on their future. With these experiences, she joined Stand in 2013 to help ensure that education policies keep our most vulnerable students at their core.
As a member of our National Development Team, Sara supports Stand through grant writing and internal development operations. She works hard to capture the experiences of our parent volunteers and their children in a way that inspires the philanthropic community to invest in Stand.
Sara earned her BA from Villanova University and a certificate in fundraising management from Boston University. She lives in Boston with her husband and their son.
