Mary McClelland is a native Chicagoan who has spent nearly two decades working for advocacy and electoral organizations. Starting at Stand in 2010 as the Illinois Marketing & Communications Director, she became the National Marketing & Communications Director in 2014 and now oversees all strategic communications, marketing, and online engagement.
Immediately prior to joining Stand, Mary was the Deputy Political Director for Field Operations & Director of Interactive Media for Rock the Vote, an organization dedicated to building political power for young people. During her tenure, she was in charge of executing all field strategies to register 2.5 million young voters in the 2008 election cycle and subsequently taking that group of new voters to organize an online base of advocates on critical issues facing this cohort.
Mary is a graduate of Denison University with a major in English Literature and a minor in Communication.
