Avery was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and developed a passion for supporting her community through the use of social media and communication after interning at the United Way of the National Capital Area in 2015.
Her interest in pursuing a career that prioritizes advocating for youth and communities of color was solidified during her time as a Marketing intern at Urban Alliance. Throughout her career, Avery has partnered with various organizations to curate content, formulate marketing strategies, and analyze data through their social media platforms to increase awareness of issues surrounding social justice. Most recently, Avery worked as a Communications Assistant for the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, using her platform to further amplify the work of grassroots organizations and those on the frontlines. Avery joins Stand for Children eager to further their mission of teaching everyday people how to join together in an effective way.
