No matter what school looks like this fall — in-person instruction, remote learning, or a bit of both — K-12 public school districts are in desperate need of emergency funding that will help them fill budget gaps caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure all students can access their right to a quality education.
Today, Stand for Children joined with fellow education organizations in signing a letter urging Congress to act quickly to include the Emergency Educational Connections Act of 2020 (S. 3690) in the next COVID package. We're specifically asking Congress to appropriate at least $4 billion to the Federal Communication Commission’s E-rate Program to quickly, efficiently and most importantly, equitably, disseminate funds so students who still do not have reliable internet access at home or necessary devices can get the connectivitiy they need.
Visit protectpubliceducation.org today to send a quick email to your U.S. Senators and Senate leadership and ask them to include sufficient funding for students and public K-12 schools in the next COVID-19 relief package so we can close the digital divide and make sure no students get shut out from learning this fall.
