Nicholas was born in Houston to a mother with roots going back to the original Texas frontier families and a first generation father who emigrated from Colombia to achieve a better life. In 2005 he saw firsthand how natural disaster, politics, racial inequality, and public education intertwined when Hurricane Katrina hit the coast. Motivated to better those effected lives through political work he has traveled this country pursuing a passion for education and social justice.
At 14 Nicholas volunteered on his first campaign. Majoring in political science at Texas State University he has used his time to effectively organize issued based education campaigns, expand healthcare access with the AFL-CIO, train countless volunteers on effective community action, and manage voter registration efforts throughout rural areas. Now he is bringing together underrepresented populations in the greater Boston area with goal of improving our education system.
