Holly was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Coming from a Mexican American/Tejano family, her father taught her the importance of education as well as the history of gaps and disparities in our education system. Neither of her grandparents were afforded the opportunity to surpass a fifth grade education. Her father was the first in the family to achieve a college degree; he then used his success and drive to provide for his five brothers and sisters, and taught his children to always strive for more.
Holly received her Bachelor’s degree in International Politics and Diplomacy from Texas A&M University and went on to achieve a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Tel Aviv University in Israel. She has dedicated her career to humanitarian issues, from Middle East peace initiatives to agricultural sustainability and water access in third world countries. Holly will bring a breadth of knowledge and experience to the Stand team as well as a constant desire to improve the lives of others.
In her free time Holly enjoys studying Arabic, attending cultural and political events as well as snuggling up to read a good historical fiction novel. She is a first-time aunt to a beautiful baby boy and looking forward to more to come!
