Why I Went to the State House

School Funding | 12/11/2018

We did it. On Monday, parents from across Massachusetts gathered at the State House to hand deliver 1,700 letters in support of fair school funding to Gov. Charlie Baker’s office.

I was there. I went to stand up for my kids.

My oldest son struggles with reading and writing. but he can’t get the extra help he needs to thrive because there are no teacher aides at his school. Their building is old and in need of repairs, there’s no after-school program, and no help for students dealing with social-emotional issues.

My greatest wish is for my children to grow up happy and healthy, and that every academic opportunity in their lives is realized. I want them to graduate high school then start professional careers – but I’m worried this won’t happen if their educations continue to suffer because of a lack of funding.

We spoke up at the State House, but the work’s not done. Send a letter directly to Gov. Baker now so he knows we won’t stop fighting for fair funding until our kids get the resources they need to succeed.
