As a former teacher and a parent, I'm passionate about education and want my daughter and all children to succeed.

The Every Child Reads @Home program is spreading the love by providing 50 families with age-appropriate books on a tablet to be used for the school year.

The Every Child Reads @Home program in Holyoke gives children in grades 2nd-5th a tablet filled with age-appropriate books, and also includes an application where parents report their child’s progress. Families also have the opportunity to receive support on either technology or ways to engage their children to ensure they are meeting their monthly reading goals.

The two participating schools, Edward Nelson White School and Lt. Elmer J. McMahon Elementary School, had 50 families attend the event. Children participating in the program took a computerized assessment to learn what reading level was appropriate for them, while their parents learned about the program.

We are excited to learn more about the children's progress throughout the school year, and to find out about the great books these children will read.
