The opportunity to interact with inspiring parents is one of the greatest benefit of my job at Stand for Children. The parents and families that I partner with, educate, and empower are a constant reminder of the wonderful work going on in our communities.
For the past two weeks, we had the opportunity to honor and celebrate 75 parents who successfully completed our Stand University for Parents (Stand UP) program in Boston, Springfield and Holyoke. This six-week family engagement program offers academic classes focused on actionable steps parents can take to improve their school-family relationship – specific strategies to help their child learn at home and ensure that they are on the right track for college.
We were fortunate to partner with the African Community and Economic Development of New England (ACEDONE), Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), Josephine A. Fiorentino Community Center in Boston, the Lawrence and Kelly Elementary Schools in Holyoke, and the Chestnut and John F. Kennedy Middle Schools in Springfield.
A special thank you to Representative Gonzalez and all the members of our community who supported our graduates on their special day.
