Congratulations to Elsa Flores a proud mother of two sons who attend the Otis Elementary School in East Boston and a dedicated Member Leader at Stand for Children Massachusetts. Elsa has been a staunch advocate not only for her sons’ education, but for the education of all children in Massachusetts.
Elsa’s dedication to Stand, and her wonderful volunteer work throughout 2014, was the driving force for her being named Stand for Children Massachusetts’ Member of the Year at the 2015 Member Summit.
As a Member Leader in East Boston, Elsa has continually gone above and beyond her goals – recruiting not just five new members to become a leader, but over 20 new members! She supports current members in their advocacy and reaches out to new members to grow her advocacy network even further.
Elsa not only recruits new members to Stand, but also participates first-hand in many advocacy activities. For over two years, Elsa has participated in the majority of Stand’s events. No action item is too big or too small for her – she signs online petitions, attends hearings at the State House, and speaks with her legislators about the impact of quality education.
Nominated by her organizer, Veronica Antich, Elsa exemplifies the determined nature of many of our members. She provides an example to us all with her cheerful attitude and commitment to Stand’s mission. For these reasons and more, Elsa Flores is most deserving of the first-ever Member of the Year award from Stand for Children Massachusetts.
