STAND ACROSS THE STATE

This fall, Stand for Children launched our Great Teachers Great Schools campaign to ensure that every child in every classroom in Massachusetts has access to a great teacher. Teachers, administrators, parents, students, and concerned citizens have joined our campaign by the tens of thousands to invest in children and advocate for better schools.

We know that a great education should not be a privilege in Massachusetts, it should be a birthright. Unfortunately, that is not the reality for far too many of our children.  Currently, sixty percent of Massachusetts’ low-income third graders are not proficient readers, and there are significant achievement gaps between low-income and high-income students across the Commonwealth.  We cannot let Massachusetts’ high overall rankings mask the fact that our system has left far too many of our students behind.

STAND NEAR YOU

Stand for Children is also working in a community near you! In Boston, we’re laying a solid foundation of parents, teachers, and concerned citizens to improve our schools and participating in numerous coalitions to extend our education advocacy across the city. In Worcester, we’re working with Superintendent Dr. Boone to help turnaround efforts and to generate parental involvement at local schools in the city. We kicked off our Springfield chapter in December and we are excited to expand across the city and reach as many parents, teachers, and community members to join forces for better student outcomes.
