State Representative - District 93
ROYCE DUPLESSIS | LOUISIANA HOUSE DISTRICT 93
Royce Duplessis was chosen by Stand for Children Louisiana parent and educator endorsement committee members based on his commitment to close the achievement gap for students through targeted supports. The committee also noted that Mr. Duplessis has a thorough understanding of the importance of increasing access to quality early learning programs, an issue which Stand for Children Louisiana has advocated for extensively.
As a 2016 Graduate of Stand for Children’s Education Leadership Institute, Royce was constantly engaged and questioning how advocates could play a role in improving educational outcomes and access for all of New Orleans’ children to higher quality schools.
Committee members were also encouraged by Mr. Duplessis’ experience as a lawyer and his time spent as Special Counsel to the Louisiana Supreme Court, as well as his continued community engagement and hours of volunteer service.
“Mr. Duplessis’ experience in the Supreme Court and track record throughout community, his continued engagement and advocacy shows leadership and commitment to this vital work for students,” said endorsement committee member Troy Glover.
Stand for Children Louisiana relies on a thorough parent and educator led endorsement process during critical elections to guide the organization’s support for the most student-centered candidates.
