EBR District 3 - Tramelle Howard
As a Baton Rouge native, graduate of Southern University Law, and a former classroom educator, Endorsement Committee Members were impressed with Mr. Howard’s ability to spear-head and implement plans that had real results for students in the classroom such as decreasing the number of suspensions and expulsions at his school by 50% by implementing innovative classroom approaches for his students.
Throughout the course of his endorsement interview, Mr. Howard was able to offer concrete examples of innovative and proven methods for school improvement in Baton Rouge’s persistently struggling schools, as well as ways to support those students and teachers.
“He’s decisive, he has a realistic plan that could be proven very effective. He appears to be a relationship builder who does his research.” – Dr. Johnny Young, Endorsement Committee Member.
Mr. Howard’s current work with City Year and continued involvement in student and education advocacy efforts and his successful completion of Stand’s Education Leadership Institute also showed a demonstrated commitment to fight for students.
Stand is focused on ensuring all students receive a high quality, relevant education, especially those whose boundless potential is overlooked and under-tapped because of their skin color, zip code, first language, or disability. Join us in standing up for families in your community.
